Meeting with a delegation of lawyers from the People’s Republic of China

On December 12, 2013 within the framework of development of the international cooperation a meeting took place in the Administration of the Association of Lawyers of Russia with representatives of the Cabinet of the management team for reforming of legal system of the Supreme People Prosecutor’s Office of the People’s Republic of China headed by the Director of the department of the Cabinet Gao Tszinfen.

Russian delegation was headed by the Chairman of the Governing Board of the Association of Lawyers of Russia Igor Manylov. The delegation also included acting Director of the Administration of the Association Stanislav Alexandrov and member of the Governing Board of the Association Denis Smola.

The meeting discussed various aspects of the activities of the Association of Lawyers of Russia. Russian party answered numerous questions of the members of Chinese delegation, for example, on qualification requirements for advocates, judges, prosecutors and notaries; on forms of control over different categories of lawyers; on changes in prosecutor’s authorities that had taken place in recent years; on differences in activity of prosecutor’s authorities and that of the agencies of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation; on form of participation of prosecutors in the activity of the Association of Lawyers of Russia; who the Association provides free legal assistance for and what are the most frequent questions individuals ask and what the Association does to fight corruption.

At the end of the meeting the parties exchanged souvenirs.
